Wednesday - Thursday Teen Camp 2012

Wednesday-----------------
Okay, so Wednesday is always an interesting day here at Camp. It's funny we always seem to forget about the craziness of the day until we see the teens following Breakfast. Wednesday is what they call "Pig Day". The teens have their water games for the mid morning game time so when they dress for the day on Wednesday they wear the craziest outfits they can put together. It is hilarious. We have a few teens that participated this year with the usual mismatched socks and shorts over their pants and etc. but the teen who really took the prize was from another youth group. I am still not really sure who it was but this kid wore an entire body suit. It was funny/weird but it was definitely the best pig day outfit. Don't worry, if your kid participated I got a picture!

Brother Farrell has been bringing a series from Romans 12 in the morning chapels and what a blessing they have been. Today he spoke on the Maturity of the believer. You know the thought keeps running through my mind how we as Christians should really be more mature and should be maturing more quickly than we really do. Unfortunately many Christians are still in the Immature Jr. High stages of life. Really their is no reason for our lack of maturing since Christ has paid it all and has given us all we need to succeed. The potential to mature and do great things for God is ours we just need to learn to appropriate it!

Wednesday evening is the Redneck Fun Time. Basically a skit time similar to the one we do for Jr. Camp. As a matter of fact ours are just as funny if you ask me. This year was a very funny skit and a few of our kids sat close enough to the front to get spattered with some of the goo from one skit in particular. One of our teens actually ended up "wearing" the mixing bowl from one of the cooking skits. He took it well and being a Jr. Higher I believe he enjoyed the attention.

Following the fun time we had a Pizza and Soda party. Each Church gathered together with their group and spent a few minutes as a church catching up on the week. We always enjoy this time and a secondary purpose for this meeting is to see the teens that have been too "Busy" to stop and talk to you all week so far.

Wednesday was a great day! Looking forward to what Thursday has is store.

Thursday-----------------------
We are approaching the end of the week now and the Teens are really responding well to the preaching of God's Word. To this point in the week there have been over 40 new professions of faith and 10 assurance decisions. As I shared earlier this week we have had one from our Church that made a profession for the first time in her life. Praise God.

We have really enjoyed the time with your teens this week so far. It is amazing what they will tell us about you when we bribe them with a little bit of Ice Cream or candy. LOL Just kidding. We have had a few good opportunities to sit down one on one with most of our Teens and just spend a little time connecting with them. I must say I love these teens already but after spending time with them our hearts really ache for them to realize the potential they are demonstrating in their lives for God. Most of the ones we have chatted with have shared things that weren't written down on a decision slip or maybe weren't even preached in a message but things that have just come to their attention being in the quiet/spiritual environment.

Please let me encourage you mom & dad, spend some quiet/alone time with your teen immediately after they get home from camp. Their hearts have really been tenderized through the systematic preaching of the scriptures this week and not only will you be able to communicate with them but I believe they will bless your heart as well.

The evening message was on bitterness tonight and wow did God really move among the teens! I am sure many of us need that message and we need it often. I can hardly wait until we hear the testimonies following this message.

Until tomorrow!
